The Patagonian colony is expanding but I am struggling to man the new port I built. I took it very early as I believe it will have an oil resource later in game. What are the pros and cons associated with incorporation?

What is the point of creating colonial administrations?
Colonial subjects should work well with foreign investment, since you can tax them (colony has them integrated) and have their resources in your market without dealing with the consequences of direct control (radicals, your capitalists building useless industry, subsidizing railroads, etc).
Confused about colonies :: Victoria 3 General Discussions
Depends on your colonial policy. Exploitation treats them like resource colonies. The other policies treat them like regular provinces. the main difference between exploitation and other policies is that exploitation balances out a lot of debuffs that go with being an unincorporated state, so you have more incentives to keep these states unincorporated as long as you don't want to build ...
Should i incorporate overseas colonies? : r/victoria3
You might want to avoid incorporating colonies in Africa until you clear Scramble for Africa event, because it requires unincorporated states. They could also drag your average literacy down if there's a lot of pops in them. Aside from that, it's mostly a trade of bureaucracy for taxes and institution access.
